Kara joined Wilkes Artis in 2020. As an associate with the Maryland practice group, she focuses on commercial real estate tax appeals. Prior to joining Wilkes Artis, Kara served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey M. Geller in the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Kara received her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2019. While at WCL, she served as Digital Articles Editor for the American University International Law Review, and as a Student Attorney with the Immigrant Justice Clinic. During law school she also served as a law clerk at a D.C. employment law firm, and completed legal internships with the International Section of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts and in the chambers of the Honorable Gary E. Bair in the Montgomery County Circuit Court.
Prior to attending law school, Kara spent nearly four years working in historic preservation at the American Battlefield Trust and the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, DC. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Kent State University in 2013, where she received the university’s award for distinguished historical writing.
